The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (SSPX) has announced that it will continue its annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. Following the episcopal consecrations on July 1 in Ecône, Bishop Jean-Marc Micas of Tarbes and Lourdes withdrew permission for the SSPX to celebrate public Masses, administer sacraments, or organize public prayers at Lourdes. In an August 22 statement, Fr. Gonzague Peignot, superior of the FSSPX in France, announced that the Fraternity intends to continue coming to Lourdes every year, “Our Lady does not deserve to be abandoned despite the obstacles,” he said. On 23 August, at Holy Family Church in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, a woman knelt at the Communion rail during Communion. Just as the priest was about to give her Communion, she stood and handed him a flower. Despite Communion being distributed by intinction, she grabbed the Host and then took the chalice used for intinction, drank from it, and threw it onto the floor before leaving the church with an escort.
