Six Jewish extremists were arrested after spitting at the Armenian Orthodox St. James Monastery in Jerusalem, verbally abusing a woman who filmed them, and throwing rocks. Their punishment? A 15-day ban from Jerusalem's Old City. The Armenian Patriarchate says these attacks are part of a growing pattern of anti-Christian violence and is urging the Israeli government to treat them as hate crimes. The Religious Freedom Data Center (RFDC) documented 83 attacks against Christians between April and June 2026, almost twice as many as the previous quarter.

Spittle and stones against an Armenian church in Jerusalem

The Armenian church in the Old City of Jerusalem was the target of an attack on Saturday night, when several people spat at the temple and threw stones at the building. Israeli Police detained six suspects, five of them minors, in a new episode of harassment against the Christian presence in the holy city. According to the KNA agency, the arrests took place after several citizens reported the incident. The Police requested pretrial detention for three of the suspects, while the other three were released under certain conditions. A pattern of aggression against Christians The attack is not an isolated incident. In recent weeks, various organizations and international media have warned of the increase in attacks against churches, monasteries, clergy, and Christian faithful, especially in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Religious Freedom Data Center (RFDC) documented 83 attacks against Christians between April and June 2026, almost double the number recorded in the previous quarter. Most …

Cardinal Burke: Be ready for ‘martyrdom’ in defence of marriage and family

Cardinal Raymond Burke has urged Catholics to be prepared for martyrdom in defence of marriage and the family. Delivering a recent homily, Cdl. Burke urged a renewed defence of marriage and the family, joining Cardinal Joseph Zen in highlighting a renewed need for the Church to prioritise the integrity of the sacrament. Preaching at his Wisconsin shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the feast of St James, Burke urged an imitation of St. James’ zeal to motivate Catholics: “Inspired by the example of Saint James the Greater and aided by his intercession, let us resolve to take up with new enthusiasm and new energy the spiritual practices by which our hearts dwell fully and securely in the Heart of Jesus for the transformation of the world by means of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and its incomparable fruit, the family.”

"Preserving the Liturgy Is Part of Preserving the Faith" – Bishop Schneider

"Preserving the precious treasure of the traditional liturgy is part of preserving the Deposit of Faith," Bishop Athanasius Schneider said in his homily on August 2 in Limerick, Ireland, at the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.
He is currently celebrating Mass and delivering talks in various locations across Ireland, including Cobh, Leixlip, Monaghan and Ardee. Previously, he was in Africa. In July, he led the golden jubilee celebrations of the Congregation of the Mothers and Missionaries of the Holy Cross in Puma, Tanzania.
Interfering with the Liturgy Destroys Religion
In Sunday's homily, Bishop Schneider recalled that "history has proved a thousand times that there is nothing more dangerous for a religion - nothing more likely to result in discontent, unrest, division, and apostasy - than interference with the liturgy and, consequently, with religious sensibility."
He recalled the apostolic rule: "Antiquity was retained. Novelty was rejected." Quoting Dom Prosper Guéranger …نور

Jesuits Dying Out: Catalonia's Shrinking Presence

The Society of Jesus is continuing a major reorganization of its presence in Catalonia as declining numbers of Jesuits and an aging membership force the closure of houses.
Working-Class Communities Close, Elite Schools Remain
The first recent closure came in Bellvitge, where the Jesuit community founded in 1968 ended its presence at the close of 2025. It was one of the Jesuits' flagship social apostolates in post-war Spain. The Jesuits also handed over responsibility for the parish of Mare de Déu de Bellvitge.
The Jesuïtes Bellvitge – Centre d'Estudis Joan XXIII school continues to operate within the Jesuit education network.
The reorganization of Jesuit communities continued in El Clot, where the Jesuit residential community at the end of the academic year 2025-2026.

Sydney Archbishop: Homosexuals Mocked Catholic Faith

Sydney Archbishop Anthony Fisher noted the producers of a homosexual performance staged inside a former Catholic church on Kent Street deliberately mocked the Catholic faith.
Writing in CatholicWeekly.com.au on July 28, a week after hundreds of Catholics gathered outside the venue to pray the Rosary, Archbishop Fisher rejected claims that the show was simply artistic expression.
The performances were "not neutral expressions of art" but "a deliberate appropriation, sexualisation, and denigration of symbols and rituals specific and sacred to the Catholic faith."
The archbishop cited promotional images showing a pig offering McDonald's fries as the "Body of Christ," male performers dressed as nuns, and events titled "Sunday Mess" and "Unholy Confessions." He considered claims - that the production was not intended to mock Catholics - were "unpersuasive."
"For Catholics, the Eucharist is not a cultural motif available for parody," Fisher wrote. "It is the sacrament at the heart of our …نور

Leo XIV Ordered Anti-Mass Document and Approved Wording - Report

Leo XIV approved Cardinal Arthur Roche's text against the Traditional Latin Mass, reaffirming Francis' Traditionis Custodes, reports LaRazon.es on August 2. The text was distributed to about 170 cardinals at the January 7 consistory.
Key phrase: "This newspaper has been able to confirm that the cardinal distributed the text at the request of Leo XIV and therefore with the Pope's approval of its contents."
According to the newspaper, Cardinal Roche and officials from his dicastery drafted the document at the Pope's request.
Leo XIV then personally reviewed it.
"He did not change a single comma," Vatican sources said, adding that "the distribution of the document to the cardinals was intended to make the new Pope's position on this issue visible."
The one-and-a-half-page document defended Traditionis Custodes, describing Tradition as a "living river" rather than a static preservation of past forms. It claimed that the Novus Ordo is fully consistent with authentic Tradition.

NYC’s Government Grocery Stores Will Require ID to Buy Food Despite Mamdani's Opposition to Voter ID - Slay News

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration plans to require shoppers to obtain identification cards before purchasing groceries from its taxpayer-funded city stores, prompting conservatives to note the contrast with Democrats’ longstanding opposition to voter ID laws. City officials said the cards are intended to ensure the government-subsidized stores serve New York City residents and prevent people from buying discounted products for resale. “So our RFP [Request for Proposal] makes it very clear that this is a program for New Yorkers to be able to put food on the table, not a program for people to be able to make a quick buck through reselling,” Mamdani said. Shoppers Will Need City-Issued Access Cards Jeanny Pak, interim president and CEO of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, said the administration is considering a system resembling a library card. “We are looking to make sure that we target New Yorkers, whether it be a sort of library card-esque thing, and …

Not Homosexuals, Catholics Must "Repent" - German 🌈 Bishop

Auxiliary Bishop Ludger Schepers of Essen, the German Bishops' Conference's commissioner for homosexual propaganda, has urged Catholic parishes to become places where homosexuals can live "without fear".
Writing on Kirche-und-Leben.de on August 2, Bishop Schepers commented on the recent deadly attack during Berlin's homosexual march.
"Our parishes must be places where every person is welcome and experiences the inalienable dignity that God has given them. No one should ever have to fear prejudice, distrust, or rejection because of their sexual orientation or gender identity."
He attacked the Church, claiming gratuitously that she "has not always been a safe place for queer people," adding that biblical passages had too often been taken "out of context" and used against them.
Ludger Schepers contrasts what he calls "the Gospel's message of unconditional love" with "the experience of many queer people". This contradiction calls Catholics "to repent".
Looking to the global Church, Bishop …نور

From Failure at EWTN to Vatican Communication Reform? This morning, Leo XIV received the new Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, the divorced Zionist Maria Montserrat Alvarado, in audience. During his pontificate, Leo XIV has met the current Prefect, Paolo Ruffini, only rarely and has not held private audiences with other senior Vatican communications officials, including Matteo Bruni, Andrea Tornielli, and Andrea Monda, seeing them only at public events. Alvarado will officially take office in November. Last year, her effort to consolidate EWTN's international news operations under a single EwtnNews.com platform did not achieve its intended goal. The project remained English-only and failed to become the successful international news site originally envisioned.

Leo XIV accelerates Vatican communications shake-up: Alvarado meeting signals change at Palazzo Pio

The future head of the Dicastery is already working on its most sensitive dossiers ahead of formally taking office in November. This morning, the Holy Father received Dr Maria Montserrat Alvarado, Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, in audience. Leo XIV’s decision to meet her so promptly, as plans are being drawn up to reorganise the Holy See’s communications operation, is significant. In more than a year as Pope, he has received Paolo Ruffini only rarely and has never held private talks with the other leading figures in Vatican communications, including Matteo Bruni, Andrea Tornielli and Andrea Monda, whom he has met only at public events. Alvarado has come to Rome to begin the handover ahead of formally taking charge of the Dicastery in November. In recent days, she has visited its various offices, spoken to staff and begun looking into a number of matters on which she had already been given detailed briefings. From the outset at Palazzo Pio, she has sought explanations and …
