WE CAN INTERPRET VATICAN COUNCIL II RATIONALLY OR IRRATIONALLY, WITH THE HERMENEUTIC OF CONTINUITY OR RUPTURE, WE CAN CHOOSE : IT IS NO MORE EITHER-OR
15.04.2026WE CAN INTERPRET VATICAN COUNCIL II RATIONALLY OR IRRATIONALLY, WITH THE HERMENEUTIC OF CONTINUITY OR RUPTURE, WE CAN CHOOSE : IT IS NO MORE EITHER-OR
So the Society of St. Pius X can accept Vatican Council II interpreted rationally and also Tradition. They are not opposed to each other.
The Ecclesia Dei communities and the sedevacantists are not obliged to interpret Vatican Council II irrationally like Pope Leo, the cardinals and the bishops. They now have a rational and traditional choice. The irraional version produces the common schism.
When LG 8, 14, 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc in Vatican Council II refer to invisible and hypothetical cases only in 2026, this is the rational interpretation.
When LG 8 etc refer to visible and personally known people in 2026 this is the irrational interpretation of Vatican Council II.
So LG 8, 14, 16 etc can refer to a physically visible or invisible case. It depends upon what you choose.
When LG 8 etc refer to unknown and implicit cases then there is nothing in the Council-text to contradict the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus with no known exceptions. Instead, Ad Gentes 7 which says all need faith and baptism for salvation is aligned with EENS and LG 8 etc are not explicit exceptions for AG 7 or EENS.
So Vatican Council II is ecclesiocentric and traditional. It has the hermeneutic of continuity with the dogma EENS of the Council of Florence 1442 which did not mention any exceptions.
The Councils is aligned with an ecumenism of return to the Catholic Church, with no known exceptions of the Syllabus of Pope Pius IX.
In the Catechism of Pope Pius X, 24Q and 17 Q (other religions are not paths to salvation and outside the Church there is no salvation) is not contradicted by 29 Q (hypothetical cases of invincible ignorance.).
So we can accept Vatican Council II interpreted rationally and also Tradition. They are not opposed to each other.- Lionel Andrades
